6.       Structure of the fusesee figure 1

The fuse is composed of support insulator, installation board (the size is shown in figure 2), active contact, upper static contact, upper connection terminal, fuse tube (fuse-carrier), bottom static contact, bottom connection terminal and so on.

7.       Operating principle

The fuse is in series to the power line when it is in operation, in normal operation, fuse-link (filament) makes active joint of bottom active contact in fuse tube (fuse-carrier) be locked, fuse tube (fuse-carrier) is closed under the press force of static contact spring. When fault is occurred in system, fault current make fuse-link melt rapidly, arc comes into being in arc-extinguishing tube. Aerogenous material mounted in fuse tube and assistant arc-extinguishing tube in fuse-element generate a large number of gases at the action of arc, then enough pressure is formed in fuse tube, and strong longitudinal magnetic field comes into being in the fuse tube and keep arc elongating rapidly, arc will be extinguished when the current reaches zero. After fuse-element has been melted, active joint is released, the fuse tube falls off quickly and forms clear disconnected distance at the action of spring pressure of upper and bottom static contact and the weight itself.
